Greg Hincks is a professional swimming instructor whose specialty is teaching adults the techniques to confidently and safely swim in outdoor bodies of water. Be it an ocean, a river, a lake or just a giant pond, Greg’s goal is to teach you to develop skills that are quite different to those used in swimming laps in an indoor pool. Many experienced pool swimmers in the UK remain nervous about transferring their exercise to the open water.
Greg has competed in over seventy open water swimming races around the world, and worked as a guide for a swimming adventure company in Croatia. In 2014 he moved to Glasgow in Scotland and has since fallen in love with the delights of loch swimming year round.
Originally from Australia, Greg grew up around the beach and believes that swimming in nature is a joyful and exhilarating experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Hay Greg, how are you? I hope you dont think I’m a little crazy but I have my heart set on swimming the English Channel. I can swim but I’m not the best my breathing and technique is all wrong. Just wandered if you can help me out. I’m a keen cyclist and relitively fit to a certain degree but still room for improvements.

Hi Greg, I am very interested in starting open water swimming and wonder if you could help . I am a fairly strong swimmer and have swum outdoors on and number of occasions, but lack confidence to swim any distance. I would be interested in information or coaching session you could offer me . Thanks for your help Louise
Hi Greg, myself and a friend have registered to do the Aberfeldy Triathalon And keen to see if you would be able to offer some coaching for two newbies to Open water swimming. We would love to hear from you and see if you can help us ahead of the event so as to improve confidence etc
Marie-Louise I can definitely help you gain confidence in the open water. You are lucky that the lochs are unseasonably warm at the moment. I can help with sighting, breathing, some technique work and general confidence in the water. Contact me at g.hincks@yahoo.com.au
Hi Greg
I am a 42 year old woman interested in training for a 5km in august. I am a fairly confident open water swimmer but I haven’t ever done more than a mile distance in a competition so this is a big step up. I also haven’t had any formal swim coaching for about 20 years so I think I need some work on my stroke!
Essentially I think I am looking for some sessions looking at my stroke and tips in training for a 5km, do u have any space abd could u help?
Thanks! Susie
I am based on southside of Glasgow, and work out of a range of outdoor locations including White Loch, Balgray, Loch Lomond, Loch Lubnaig, Loch Venachar and various other lochs in The Trossachs.
During winter I also work on technique with swimmers at indoor pools.
Can your Dad currently swim?
